Frequently asked questions

The essentials on the free calculators, SparkBench Pro, billing and how we treat BS 7671.

Is SparkBench free to use?

Yes. Every calculator on SparkBench is free to use and no account is needed. SparkBench Pro is an optional paid tier that adds saved projects, branded PDF exports, BS 7671 distribution board schedules and certificates.

What do I get with SparkBench Pro, and what does it cost?

Pro adds saved projects, your logo and branding on exported PDFs, BS 7671 distribution board schedules with live validation, and EIC, EICR and Minor Works certificates. Solo is £6 a month or £60 a year; Team is £15 a month or £150 a year. All prices include VAT at 20%, and you can cancel at any time.

Who am I buying from, and who invoices me?

SparkBench is a product of Intrelec Ltd, an M&E contractor registered in England & Wales (company no. 10183959). Intrelec Ltd bills and invoices your subscription. Card payments are processed securely by Stripe and your card details never touch our servers.

Can I cancel my subscription?

Yes. Cancel yourself at any time from the billing portal inside your account. Your Pro access continues until the end of the period you have already paid for.

Are the calculators and schedules compliant with BS 7671?

They are design aids. Every result must be checked by a competent person against the current edition of BS 7671. Where the underlying data is at reduced confidence it is flagged as such, and SparkBench never guesses a safety-critical value.

Do the certificates replace a competent person?

No. Electrical Installation Certificates, EICRs and Minor Works Certificates are statutory documents that must be completed and signed by a competent person who takes responsibility for the design, construction, inspection and testing. SparkBench produces the document from the data you enter; it is not certification by SparkBench and is no substitute for competence, inspection and testing.

Which standards does SparkBench reference?

BS 7671 (the IET Wiring Regulations) and the associated device standards such as BS 88, BS 3036, BS EN 60898 and BS EN 61008/61009. Standards are revised over time, so always confirm the current edition and designation. See our BS numbers reference.

How do I install the SparkBench app on my phone or desktop?

SparkBench runs in any browser and installs as an app from app.sparkbench.co.uk, so it opens from your home screen and works offline for the calculators. On an iPhone or iPad, open app.sparkbench.co.uk in Safari, tap the Share button, then Add to Home Screen. On Android, open it in Chrome, tap the three-dot menu, then Install app. On Windows or Mac, open it in Chrome or Edge and click the install icon in the address bar. To refresh the app icon after an update, remove the installed app and add it again.

How do I save a calculation to a project?

On a Pro plan, open any calculator, enter your figures and choose “Save to project”. The result is filed against the project you pick and can be reopened or included in a branded PDF pack later.

Is my data secure?

Account passwords are hashed, any stored service credentials are encrypted at rest, and the site is served over HTTPS with strict security headers. Card payments are handled entirely by Stripe.
